Baldur's Gate 3 just turned three years old, and developer Larian Studios celebrated by sharing a new batch of player statistics on social media. While none are as outrageous as last year's batch, when we learned 250,000 players gave Withers big naturals, they still offer interesting insights into player behavior, like how often Alfira winds up dead. Poor bard!
She died in 48% of Dark Urge runs, and Larian was quick to point out that "more non-Dark Urge players have managed to murder Alfira than Dark Urge players." Durge or no Durge, she gonna die. Dark Urge players clearly took the "role-playing" part of RPG seriously and embraced their murder hobo instincts by killing Selûne cleric Isobel during 62% of runs, tiefling leader Zevlor in 48%, gnome Wulbren in 32%, and kobold trader Popper in 30%.
It's that time of year again, you naughty number-loving nerds. — Larian Studios (@larianstudios.com) 2026-08-04T16:09:39.472Z
Speaking of Isobel and Zevlor going belly up, Larian shared which story NPCs died the most. The unfortunate Zevlor ate it 12.31 million times, tiefling wizard Rolan 8.62 million, Isobel 7.2 million, Volo 4.62 million, and poor Alfira 2.62 million.
The statistics aren't all about death, thankfully. Larian revealed players have downloaded mods a whopping 500 million times (up from 265 million last year), and paired that number with an image of a bald Lae'zel, who looks as imposing as ever.
Whether you chose violence or call it an accident, these NPCs found their demise in your playthroughs. Not sure what Volo did to you all to deserve this. — Larian Studios (@larianstudios.com) 2026-08-04T16:09:39.492Z
You can check out the full thread on Bluesky for more whacky insights, like how the Poo-Scraper was used just four times in combat in Act 3 or how a handful of players manually saved over 560 times in a single playthrough. That's a lot of save-scumming!
If you're not one of the over 20 million players who have purchased and played Baldur's Gate 3, there's no better time than the present. It's currently on sale for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
