The State Budget has evoked a mixed response from different sections of society, with some hailing the document as transformational, while others express their trepidation over the revenue generation aspect.
A Budget for economic growth
The State Budget is an ‘Aspirational, Inspirational and Transformational’ document with significant allocations for major infrastructure projects, operations and maintenance, and capacity building initiatives, according to S.Vaidhyasubramaniam, Vice-Chancellor, SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur.
It was an aspirational budget for the youth through education and skilling initiatives, an inspirational budget for the common man to improve quality of living and a transformational budget for the State’s economic growth through ‘Vetri Tamizhagam’ vision document, Mr.Vaidhyasubramanian said in an official release.
Budget lacks income generation avenues – Tax Consultants Federation.
The Thanjavur Tax Consultants Federation has claimed that the Budget lacked income generation avenues and did not guarantee new employment opportunities. Instead, it indicates borrowing of fresh loans for implementing schemes such as ‘Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram’ scheme and others, according to the Federation president, Ravichandran.
