It is the proclaimed agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to weaken the Left movement in the country, Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Polit Bureau member A. Vijayaraghavan has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating a debate on ‘RSS’s Taliban Ways,’ organised by the AKG Research Centre in Palakkad on Wednesday (August 5, 2026).

Likening the RSS to the Taliban, Mr. Vijayaraghavan said the organisation controls the BJP, India’s largest right-wing party. The RSS’s influence was adversely affecting the country’s governance, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi showing undue haste in implementing its agenda in areas including history, higher education and literature, he said.

He said the RSS’s main agenda was to remove the special rights of Jammu and Kashmir. The Uniform Civil Code was being implemented in BJP-ruled States with Muslims as the target. He also accused the RSS of seeking to Hinduise tribals in Manipur and erase the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru from history. He said the Left had a responsibility to resist such “dangerous politics.”

CPI(M) State secretariat Member C.N. Mohanan presided over the function.
