The new face of one of the mutants has been revealed!
Australian actress Samara Weaving will play the role of Emma Frost in the upcoming Marvel’s reboot of ‘X-Men.’ Known as the “White Queen,” Frost is a former supervillain turned into a superhero with a telepathy power.
Based on Deadline’s report, Director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige picked Weaving for the role after meeting with a number of candidates.
The audition is reportedly the most extensive casting process among the upcoming films, with the search for the actor to play Frost said to be the most thorough among the new cast.
American actress January Jones played the role of Emma Frost in 2011’s ‘X-Men: First Class.’
As of writing, neither representatives from Weaving nor Marvel’s side have provided comments on the new casting.
The right choice
Marvel and X-Men fans quickly react to the announcement, saying that the executives picked the right choice for the actress playing the role of Frost.
“Samara Weaving was always the better choice. Emma Frost needs elegance, intimidation, and presence, not just blonde hair. This casting feels like Marvel picked the actor first and the aesthetic second, exactly how it should be,” one fan commented.
Another one seconded, “Samara Weaving as Emma Frost is genuinely inspired casting, she can do the ice cold delivery and the chaos in the same scene. Curious how deep this X-Men roster goes.”
Weaving’s name has been the talk of the internet after appearing as the main lead character, Grace Le Domas, in the 2019 comedy-horror film ‘Ready or Not’ and its 2026 sequel ‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come.’ She is also known as the “scream queen” through her roles in different horror films.
Following the reveal, fans also began speculating about which actors and actresses could portray the other mutants.

In the early 1990s, Marvel licensed the X-Men film rights to 20th Century Fox. Over the next two decades, Fox produced a dozen live-action films based on the franchise. The film rights returned to Marvel in 2019 after The Walt Disney Company completed its acquisition of the entertainment assets, paving the way for Marvel Studios’ reboot of the X-Men.
