A young woman was killed after a man who jumped from a 12-storey building crashed on top of her - and survived.

Houra Inaba, 23, was walking on a pavement in Nagoya, Japan around 1am last week when Shinsei Taguchi, 29, fell from a height.

The victim had been with a friend at the time of the terrifying incident and called emergency services who raced to the scene.

The pair were taken to hospital, but Ms Inaba was sadly pronounced dead at around 5:30 am due to a hemorrhagic shock, according to local reports.

Mr Taguchi is unconscious and in critical condition.

It has yet to be confirmed whether Mr Taguchi jumped purposefully or if the fall was an accident.

The area has been cordoned off while officers investigate the tragic incident. It has not been confirmed where from the building Mr Taguchi fell from.

It comes after a teenage girl jumped to her death from a shopping centre in Yokohama and killed another woman as she landed on the pedestrian below.

The high school student jumped from a building in a crowded shopping district, hitting a 32-year-old woman who was out with her friends in 2024.

Both women were taken to hospital, where the girl died an hour later and the other woman died soon after.

According to police, the girl was said to have jumped from the 12th floor deck of NEWoMan Yokohama, a shopping centre directly connected to JR Yokohama Station, just before 6pm, Japan Today reports.

Police said the teenage girl lived in Kimitsu City, Chiba Prefecture, and the woman was a company employee who lived in Midori Ward, Yokohama.

It is also said that the scene was crowded with many shoppers at the time.
