The South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone is executing five new line projects and 24 multi-tracking works worth about ₹54,479 crore, General Manager Sandeep Mathur said on Thursday (August 6, 2026), two months after the zone was formed.

Addressing a press conference at the SCoR headquarters here on Thursday (August 6, 2026), Mr. Mathur said the zone had been built from scratch, covering the creation of infrastructure, manpower deployment, financial arrangements and the adoption of operational rule books.

Network and revenue

The zone spans four divisions covering nearly 3,532 route km and 6,455 track km. With expected originating revenue of ₹15,500 crore and freight loading exceeding 100 million tonnes a year, SCoR oversees seven loco sheds, three workshops, seven coaching depots and four freight depots, and serves four major ports.

Projects and investments

The General Manager said the zone was executing five new railway line projects and 24 multi-tracking works, involving investments of about ₹54,479 crore. Projects worth nearly ₹70,865 crore are in the pipeline.

For safety and connectivity, the zone is constructing more than 300 road over bridges and road under bridges. SCoR is also reviewing railway arrangements for the coming Godavari Pushkarams at Rajamahendravaram.

Sanctions in two months

Since its formation, SCoR has secured several project sanctions, including the ₹300 crore Visakhapatnam yard remodelling project, which includes six additional lines, six new platforms (platform Nos. 8 to 14), electronic interlocking and platform widening, the ₹1,205 crore Guntakal-Ballari quadrupling project, and ₹20 crore for crowd management facilities at Tirupati.

The zone has also commissioned works including yard remodelling at Narsapur-Vijayawada and Garudaballi-Visakhapatnam, the expansion of automatic block signalling in the Nellore-Telamanchi section, and the installation of Kavach on nearly 100 locomotives. The first 100-km section is to be commissioned by the end of the year.
