Protesting students on Thursday (August 6, 2026) formed an 11-member delegation to hold talks with the Jharkhand government over their demands.

Hundreds of students gathered at the State capital Ranchi’s Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, demanding an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) followed by action against those responsible for the alleged irregularities in competitive exams for government jobs in the State, including in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Combined Civil Services Examination, and the Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination, which is also known as Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission-Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) exam.

The JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch was scheduled to hold talks with the four-member committee formed by the government on Thursday (August 6, 2026) evening. However, till filing this report, no message had been sent to the Manch with regard to the timing and place of the talks. However, the Manch has sent the names of the 11 delegates who will be part of the talks.

The delegation included eight students — Ravindra Paswan, Piyush Kumar Singh, Ravindra Kumar Ravi, Rajesh Prasad, Neetu Kujur, Kartik Soren, Sandeep Kumar and Shaalu Singh. Along with them, there will be one journalist representing the media, one person in the role of guardian and one legal expert.

The JPSC-JSSC Reform Manch has asserted that journalists and legal experts will be present in the capacity of mentors to the students. During the dialogue, all issues, facts, and demands will be presented to the government only by the student representatives. Journalists and legal experts will not engage in any conversation, make statements, or present facts.

Also, it has been instructed that media must not carry any microphones, cameras, recording devices, or sound systems into the meeting. The entire dialogue will be conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner under the leadership of the student representatives.

Student representative Ravindra Paswan said students were ready for talks with the government. “Our objective is to put the real demands of the students before the government. We hope that the government will listen to us seriously and take positive decisions in the interest of the students,” he added.

Meanwhile, the peaceful protest has entered its 13th day, having begun on July 25, 2026. The students have asserted that their agitation will continue until the government takes a concrete decision on their demands. The Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department (CID) is investigating the irregularities and has arrested 19 persons in the case.

The main demand of the protesting students is an inquiry by the CBI. The protesters have also called for the cancellation of the Preliminary Test of the 14th JPSC Civil Services Examination, and a review of exams conducted through agencies, including TSR Data Processing Private Limited.

Congress’s support

Earlier in the day, AICC Jharkhand In-charge K. Raju posted a message on X saying the Congress stood in support of the agitating students for justice.

“We thanked the Chief Minister for his empathetic positive action for constituting a ministerial committee to consult with protesting students and recommend concrete solutions. Justice for our students remains our top priority,” Mr. Raju said in the post.
