Person in critical condition after stabbing in Central Auckland

One person is in hospital with serious injuries after an alleged stabbing in Central Auckland overnight.

Emergency services were called to Karangahape Road near Pitt Street at 4:20am.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said ambulance crews assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Auckland City hospital in a critical condition.

Detective senior sergeant Greg Brand said two people had been taken into custody.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances around what has occurred."
