In Ukraine, 350 artists and 137 Ukrainian and foreign media professionals have been killed as a result of the full-scale invasion by Russian forces.

According to Ukrinform, this information was reported by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

The ministry emphasizes that these figures not only reflect the scale of the losses but also serve as a reminder of the tragic chapters in Ukrainian history: just as the Stalinist regime destroyed a generation of Ukrainian artists in the 1920s and early 1930s, so too is Russia now deliberately destroying Ukraine’s cultural elite.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ihor Khodzhaniyazov—a poet, translator, linguist, cultural studies scholar, musician, and researcher of traditional music and history—was killed on the front lines while carrying out a combat mission.
