The Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) is understood to have been held in a cordial atmosphere in New Delhi on Sunday.

Justice (Retd.) Gita Mittal, the Delhi High Court-appointed administrator tasked with bringing the AITA’s constitution in line with the National Sports Governance Act, addressed the EGM before amendments to the constitution were put to vote clause by clause, The Hindu has learnt.

While results are awaited, a simple majority will decide which version of the amendments make it to the revised governing document.

As reported earlier, there are disagreements between the administrator-led committee and AITA regarding athletes’ representation in the Executive Committee and age-limit for office-bearers.

Delhi High Court, which appointed Justice Mittal, will hear the matter next on August 14, with September 30 being the deadline for holding fresh AITA elections under the new constitution.
