MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon — Forest firefighters here are trekking steep, slippery, and mountainous terrain to contain grassland and forest fires as the dry season intensifies, local officials said. The Malaybalay City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO) reported that the hardest-hit areas since February include Barangays Can-ayan, Natid-asan in Casisang, Kalasungay, Patpat, Kibalabag, and Manalog. The fires have damaged grasslands, bamboo areas, pine forests, and acacia plantations across these upland communities.
