SEOUL, Aug. 4 (Yonhap) -- The German football giants Bayern Munich defeated the K League 1 club Jeju SK FC 2-1 in an entertaining preseason match in South Korea on Tuesday.

South Korean defender Kim Min-jae served as Bayern Munich's captain to start the contest at Jeju World Cup Stadium on the southern island of Jeju, with 22,519 fans braving the scorching weather to watch the most decorated club in German football history.

Coached by former Belgium international Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich were without some of their biggest stars who played at the recent FIFA World Cup, such as French midfielder Michael Olise and English striker Harry Kane.

The visitors still came away with the win, with all three goals of the match coming in the first half.

Felipe Chavez put Bayern Munich on the board in the 11th minute after a chaotic sequence in which Jeju failed to clear the ball out of their own box multiple times. Chavez's initial shot struck the leg of his teammate Guido Della Rovere, and the ball bounced right back to the 19-year-old midfielder, who made no mistake with his left-footed strike the second time.

Jeju leveled the score four minutes later, with captain Lee Chang-min being the beneficiary of some great individual effort by forward Matheus Aias. The Brazilian pulled off a rainbow flick to move past Kim and worked the ball to Lee, who slotted it into the left corner.

Bayern nearly gifted a goal to Jeju in the 26th minute with some miscommunication, as defender Hiroki Ito headed the ball back toward his own net with goalkeeper Jonas Urbig having already moved out of position. Luckily for the German team, the ball rolled just wide of the right post.

At the other end, Jeju goalkeeper Heo Ja-woong made a couple of big saves in the 40th minute to keep the match tied, denying Chavez on a left-footed shot and then stoning Tom Bischof off a rebound.

But Bayern solved Heo in the next minute, when the 16-year-old forward Bastian Assomo found the bottom left corner with a crisp right-footed shot from just outside the box.

Jeju grabbed control of the match in the early minutes of the second half, and Choi Byung-wook tested Urbig with a right-footed attempt from outside the box in the 56th minute.

Bayern made mass substitutions just past the hour mark, putting first-team players Jonathan Tah, Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic on the pitch.

Three more regulars -- Luis Diaz, Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanisic -- entered the match in the 78th minute, but the match had turned messy by that point with so many changes.

Stanisic nearly provided a jolt for Bayern in the 81st minute, though his header, set up by Kimmich, was tipped out of play by the new Jeju goalkeeper, Joo Seung-min.

Another sub, Maycon Cardozo, just missed the far post with a shot from an open look on the right side of the box in the 85th minute.

Joo kept Jeju in the match with a big save on Arijon Ibrahimovic in the 89th minute, but his teammates were not able to come through in the dying minutes.
