A light aircraft has crashed and landed upside down on a rural Canterbury airstrip.

Fire and Emergency was called to the crash around 10.20am in Kirwee.

Crews found the plane upside down on an airfield on Station Rd, near Old West Coast Rd.

They said the pilot wasn’t trapped
and had been safely removed from the aircraft.
