Buying a home is often the biggest investment of a person's life. But for one family in Delhi, that dream turned into a nightmare after water began gushing from their apartment ceiling, damaging furniture and soaking the entire living room.

The video was shared on X by user Sanju Goyal, who claimed the incident took place in her housing society and involved a flat on the 13th floor.

In the clip, water could be seen pouring relentlessly from the ceiling, almost like heavy rainfall inside the apartment. The force of the water drenched a black sofa set, a white oval coffee table covered with a cloth, and the surrounding furniture, while the floor quickly became flooded.

The ceiling and walls also appeared visibly wet, with signs of water damage spreading across the room.

According to the caption, the water leak was caused by a burst fire alarm pipeline. Goyal claimed the pipe work had been carried out so poorly that it failed, causing extensive damage to the home's interiors and furniture.

She also added that the affected homeowners had invested nearly Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 2 crore in the property, only to face such an incident. Claiming that neither the builder nor the maintenance agency had taken responsibility for the losses, she said the residents had filed an FIR against the maintenance agency.

Calling the incident "another form of corruption", Goyal alleged that substandard construction materials had been used during the building's construction, leading to such failures.

The video sparked widespread discussion online, with many users saying the incident emphasised the need for accountability in residential construction and maintenance.

Several people argued that if poor workmanship or substandard materials were responsible, a proper investigation should be conducted and those at fault should be held accountable, especially when buyers invest their life's savings into purchasing a home.

Others remarked that while many believe self-built homes offer better quality control, such incidents reflected the consequences of alleged negligence in large housing projects.
