In the smartphone industry, months sometimes feel like seasons of their own. June and July belong to Samsung's foldables, August is for Google's Pixel, and come September, all eyes turn to Apple's iPhones. A few days back, Google confirmed that the Pixel 11 series is going to break cover on August 12. In a teaser, the brand revealed a new feature: Pixel Glow, which is basically a circular LED light with a range of colours that the new smartphones will carry, said to be used as a notification signal.
Pixel 11 Series design and colours
The Pixel 11 lineup is expected to include four models: the standard Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Design-wise, the changes are expected to be fairly subtle. Google looks to be sticking with the same horizontally aligned camera module on its slab phones, though the Pixel 11 Pro Fold appears in leaks and seems to be getting a reworked camera island with a narrower profile and cutouts placed closer to the edges.
Leaks suggest the Pixel 11 Pro Fold will be available in Pine, a muted green shade, and Midnight, while the Pixel 11 Pro is tipped to come in four colours: Dune, Light Fog, Pine, and Sterling.
What we know about specs and performance
Display sizes across the lineup are expected to stay largely the same as last year. The Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro are tipped to retain 6.3-inch OLED panels, the Pro XL a 6.8-inch display, and the Pro Fold a 6.4-inch cover screen paired with an 8.0-inch inner display.
The bigger change lies under the hood. Every model in the lineup is expected to run on Google's new Tensor G6 chip, a 7-core processor built on TSMC's 2nm process, a notable jump from the 3nm Tensor G5 used in the Pixel 10 series. Google is also expected to move away from Samsung modems in favour of MediaTek's new M90 modem across the entire Pixel 11 family, which could improve connectivity and battery efficiency. The series is expected to ship with Android 17 out of the box.
On cameras, details remain scarce, but Google may carry over the same setups from the Pixel 10 series. That would mean a 50-megapixel main, 48-megapixel ultrawide, and 48-megapixel 5x telephoto camera on the Pro models, and a 48-megapixel main, 13-megapixel ultrawide, and 10.5-megapixel telephoto on the standard Pixel 11. Rumours also point to an ultra-low-light video mode, Cinematic Blur at 4K 30fps, a new video relight feature, and 100x zoom.
Google Pixel 11 series price
On pricing, reports suggest Google may raise prices this year due to the ongoing memory cost crisis affecting the entire smartphone industry. For reference, the Pixel 10 launched in India at Rs. 79,999, with the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL priced at Rs. 1,09,999 and Rs. 1,24,999 respectively, while the Pixel 10 Pro Fold topped the range at Rs. 1,72,999. The Pixel 11 series is expected to see a similar or higher pricing structure when it launches next month.
