Pilot crashes small plane on top of Texas house as homeowners sleep inside

A pilot suffered minor injuries after he landed a small plane that crashed on top of a Texas home on Monday (20 July).

Footage shows the yellow Piper J3C-65, which had attempted to land at a nearby airstrip, on top of the home in the Fulshear area, Texas.

The homeowners were in bed when they heard a loud boom at approximately 6.00am, local media reports.

The pilot was alert but stuck inside the cockpit as first responders got to the scene. They removed the pilot from inside the aircraft after hazmat teams helped contain fuel leaking from the plane.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.
