A 58-year-old security guard died after he was attacked by his son with an iron rod following a heated argument at an apartment complex in Bengaluru's Varthur area. The accused, a 38-year-old Nepalese national, has been arrested.
According to police, the incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Varthur Police Station. The deceased has been identified as Chandra Bahadur Shahi, a native of Kalikot district in Nepal. His son, Drona Bahadur Shahi, has been arrested in connection with the murder.
Police said Chandra Bahadur had earlier worked as a security guard at Somapura Gate and had recently joined Trend Square Apartments on Friday. On Sunday morning, his son also reached the apartment complex in search of a security job.
On Monday evening at around 7 pm, an argument reportedly broke out between the father and son. During the confrontation, Drona allegedly picked up an iron rod and repeatedly assaulted his father, leaving him critically injured.
Fellow workers immediately rushed Chandra Bahadur to a private Hospital in Gunjur. due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was referred to Victoria Hospital for advanced treatment. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police arrested the accused soon after the incident. The body has been sent to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem examination, and investigators are probing the circumstances that led to the fatal assault.
